Charm + Mavi Veloso

The Rest is Noise en Subbacultcha presenteren een dubbelconcert van twee uitzonderlijke artiesten. Mavi Veloso en Charm Mone combineren zang, muziek en performance art. Op basis van hun persoonlijke ervaringen als non-binair en transgender gebruiken de Braziliaanse kunstenaars identiteit, gender, feminisering en masculinisering als performance-techniek in twee uitzonderlijke shows.

Mavi Veloso's performances zijn veelal gebasseerd op haar persoonlijke ervaringen als non-binair persoon en trans body. Ze onderzoekt de vocale uitvoeringspraktijk van mensen die veranderen van geslacht of seksuele identiteit. Mavi Veloso probeert zo inzicht te geven in de fysieke en psychologische processen van transgenders en deze van context te voorzien.

Charm Mone is performancekunstenaar en producer van experimentele popmuziek. Met onconventionele poëzie, songs en muziekproducties doorbreekt Charm taboes over geslacht en seksualiteit. In 2020 brengt zij haar langverwachte EP1 uit. Met haar muzikale vertolkingen belooft haar optreden met een sopraansaxofonist een emotionele, unieke ervaring te worden voor iedereen die in de wereld van Charm duikt.

The Rest is Noise and Subbacultcha present a double bill with two extraordinary artists. Both Mavi Veloso and Charm Mone’s multidisciplinary narratives combine voice, music and performance art. From their personal experiences as non-binary and trans bodies, the two Brazilian artists appropriate gender, identity, feminization and masculinization as performance techniques in two exquisite performances.

In her art practice Mavi Veloso uses her personal experiences as non-binary and trans body. It's a research on vocal performance practices of people transitioning between genders or sexual identities. Mavi Veloso tries to provide insight into both the physical and psychological processes of transgender people and to provide them with context.

Charm is a Brazilian performance artist and experimental pop music producer fracturing conventional spectrums of poetry, songwriting and music production, as well as gender and sexuality. In early 2020 she presents her long-awaited EP1. Using sound as a platform for unleashing narratives in live performance her performance with a soprano sax player promises to give an emotional unique experience for all who will dive into Charm’s world.
