From Bach to Bryce Dessner with groundbreaking mandolin player

Amsterdam-based Fuse – the house band of television programme Podium Klassiek – is renowned for its boundary-breaking performances. This string quartet, plus double bass and percussionist, plays Bach just as easily as music by Bryce Dessner, a member of the indie-rock band The National. In the Thursday Evening Series, Fuse performs with the groundbreaking mandolin player Avi Avital: ‘a musician who recognises no boundaries except those of good taste,’ according to the influential English music magazine Gramophone.

This concert is all about improvisation, virtuosity and adventure. Fuse puts it this way: ‘Together with Avi Avital, we are creating a concert experience where musical boundaries disappear and new sound worlds are discovered.’ Timeless music with a fresh, contemporary twist.
