Schelomo and Kabalevski

The Hebrew rhapsody Schelomo for cello and orchestra is full of stylistic elements from Jewish music. The cello, played by Gary Hoffman, represents the voice of King Solomon. One of the discoveries of the Cello Biënnale 2022 was the seldom performed second cello concerto by Kabalevsky. Kian Soltani gave an emotional performance of it and returns to accept the challenge of matching that experience.

Unfortunately, Mischa Maisky is unable to play Ernest Bloch's Schelomo due to illness. Fortunately, the Amsterdam Cello Biennale has found American cellist Gary Hoffman willing to take over this concert. Ticket buyers will receive a message about this.
