Alexander Melnikov

Recap apr 26th 2024

Seven composers, five pianos and one pianist.

Alexander Melnikov presented a special program on Friday April 26th with the most personal and expressive works of the composers he selected: Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Frédéric Chopin, Aleksandr Scriabin and Alfred Schnittke.

The audience discovered the pieces as they sounded at the time of their creation, performed on pianos appropriate to the composer and period. “These beautiful instruments here are like time machines,” Melnikov himself said about his program.
