Shostakovich Special

The Muziekgebouw commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of Dmitri Shostakovich’s death with a special featuring Quatuor Danel and pianist Alexander Melnikov. The shadow of Stalin’s cultural oppression fell heavily on Shostakovich’s life, and his music became his refuge, his means of defiance.
