Premieres by Janco Verduin and Aspasia Naspoulou

Two duos with identical instruments and a range of both low and high, consisting of cello and bass clarinet. In Janco Verduin’s new work, Katharina Gross and Fie Schouten depict the swifts searching for their nests at sunset and the bats just awakening. Nasopolou found inspiration in a story by Geert Mak about two fleeing Syrian boys. Ernst Dullemond adds a visual dimension with his lighting design, in which words fade into the abstraction of sound and light.

The duo Marcus Kaiser & Germaine Sijstermans perform compositions by Germaine Sijstermans, some of which will be interactive with the audience. The duo has been working together since 2020 and approaches their music from their backgrounds as musicians, composers, and visual artists. They write open scores in which timbre and texture take center stage.

This concert takes place at the Plein Theatre as part of the Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam series.
