An Evening of Today is een showcase voor jonge muziekmakers in de nieuwe muziekwereld. Het biedt een divers palet van hedendaagse muziek, met componisten, ensembles, producers, audiovisuele kunstenaars en songwriters. In eerdere edities verrasten componisten met ongebruikelijke opstellingen, ballonnen, tafeltennis, video, nieuwe speeltechnieken, gerafelde nachtclubsferen, elektronica, nepnieuws, een rockband, en zelfs visuele muziek zonder geluid. Onder andere Genevieve Murphy, Kate Moore en Rick van Veldhuizen maakten de afgelopen jaren hun debuut.
Muziek- en geluidscultuur staan centraal in An Evening of Today, met compositie als primaire focus. De muziekmakers van het Conservatorium van Amsterdam zullen gezamenlijk een avondvullend programma creëren voor het Muziekgebouw. Een spannende samenwerking die de grenzen van muzikale verbeelding verkent!
