An Evening of Today is a showcase for young musical talent in the world of new music. The event offers a diverse range of contemporary music, featuring composers, ensembles, producers, audiovisual artists, and songwriters. In past editions, composers have surprised audiences with unconventional set-ups, balloons, table tennis, video, innovative playing techniques, edgy nightclub vibes, electronics, fake news, a rock band, and even visual music devoid of sound. Genevieve Murphy, Kate Moore and Rick van Veldhuizen are among the artists who have made their debut in recent years.
An Evening of Today centres on music and sound culture, with composition taking primary focus. The music creators of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam will jointly create a full evening’s programme for the Muziekgebouw. This exciting collaboration explores the frontiers of musical imagination!
