The wondrous world of adults through the eyes of children

Busy, busy, busy: the life of adults is filled with important things. But what do children make of it all? Cellobende (‘Cello Gang’) is a musical theatre performance about the wondrous world of adults, seen through the eyes of children. About important appointments, dreams and death. Through music, the Cello Octet examines the baffling behaviour of grown-ups.

After the wonderful family shows Cellostorm and Cellokrijgers, Cello Octet Amsterdam is now making the family show Cellobende with Jochem Stavenuiter. It is about the different ways children and adults experience the world, and it is based on the children’s book Hoe Mieke Mom haar maffe moeder vindt (‘How Mieke Mom finds her crazy mother’) by Guus Kuijer. For this performance, Dutch composer Morris Kliphuis and Iranian composer Aftab Darvishi have written new music.
