Partes Ensemble presents Ukrainian Baroque masterpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries, when Kyiv and Lviv were crossroads of musical traditions. Music theoretician and composer Mykola Dyletsky brought Italian influences to the east, while the prodigy Maksym Berezovsky propelled the choral concerto to new heights. A magical winter wonderland unfolds in powerful twelve-part chants and intense four-part miniatures. Partes from Ukraine is a male choir that breathes new life into traditional and spiritual music. Their repertoire includes centuries-old liturgical works and folk songs, performed with passion and masterful skill. Partes brings to life not just music, but the very soul of Ukraine.

Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit and music from South America

It’s clear that Charpentier felt Christmas was a time to celebrate. He wrote the Messe de Minuit pour Noël, a cheerful midnight mass in a light-hearted Baroque style. For the melodies, Charpentier drew upon ten popular French Christmas carols. Música Temprana and the National Mixed Youth Choir sing the mass, as well as some of the original French songs.

As usual, Música Temprana also takes a detour to South America by singing music from the Jesuit missions. There, priests and indigenous residents wrote hymns in a baroque style, with lyrics in local South American languages. You can count on Música Temprana and the National Mixed Youth Choir for a colourful concert, followed by a swinging after-party in the foyer.
