Tribute to BIMHUIS' founders, inspirational forces and pioneers

The BIMHUIS celebrates its 50th anniversary in October. Martin Fondse, former Composer of the Fatherland, and his ensemble BigBim50 kick off this anniversary with the grand opening concert HOME. This musical spectacle is a tribute to the founders, inspirers and pioneers of the BIMHUIS, and a celebration of all the music that has resounded on this stage over the past half century. Music will be heard all over the building, from the balconies, from the lift and from the stairs.

HOME by Martin Fondse embodies the spirit of the BIMHUIS. For him, it is a place full of memories, new experiences and groundbreaking music. A home to many musicians and a wide and passionate audience. The unique ensemble BigBim50 consists of fifteen wind players and a rhythm section and is a cross-section of the (jazz) musicians who have taken the stage in recent years. BigBim50 is both a marching band, a jazz orchestra, a chamber ensemble and a powerful improvisation instrument, featuring wood, saxophones, brass, percussion, piano and guitar.
