About thirty years ago, oboist Bart Schneemann took over the artistic direction of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble. Under his direction, the New Year’s concerts grew into the ensemble’s showpiece in the concert hall as well as on TV. Since then, the concerts have become just as much a part of New Year’s Day as ski jumping and the Viennese Waltz.
