Ghost

Het HEM presenteert een nieuwe overweldigende muziekperformance van de Amerikaanse componist, theaterregisseur en maker Asa Horvitz. Geïnspireerd door de dood van zijn vader en andere familieleden, maakte Asa op teksten over dood en rouw gemaakt door een AI-systeem een voorstelling waarin het publiek kan dwalen, dromen en associëren over onderwerpen als herinnering en verlies.

Asa voert de teksten uit met Carmen Q. Rothwell en Ariadne Randall. Daarnaast nodigde Asa de Amerikaanse pianist en componist Wayne Horvitz, zijn oom en broer van zijn vader uit. Ghost is geen muziek, theater of choreografie, maar een vertrouwde ruimte waarin performers en toeschouwers samen door de gezongen teksten het verleden en de dood kunnen beleven.

Ghost is tot stand gekomen met behulp van artistieke partner Muziekgebouw Productiehuis, het HEM en De School.

Het Hem presents a new immersive music performance by American composer, theatre director and maker Asa Horvitz. Inspired by the death of his father and his father's relatives, Asa Horvitz created a performance on lyrics about death, loss and mourning by an AI system, a space in which the audience can wander, dream and associate on the topics of memories and loss.

Asa set these lyrics to music along with musician and performers Carmen Q. Rothwell and Ariadne Randall. He invited American pianist and composer Wayne Horvitz, his uncle and his father’s brother to join them. Ghost is neither music nor theatre nor choreography, but something familiar, in which performers and spectators together attend to the presence of the past and the death.
