Intimate concert combining the theatrical and spiritual

A sophisticated, accessible and varied theatrical concert, featuring a new work by Rick van Veldhuizen as the heart of the programme. The piece, a composition commissioned by Shane van Neerden, was written for two pianos: a traditional concert grand piano and a buffet piano in a completely newly developed, pure tuning. Image and text projections and spoken word guide the listener like a lantern through music by Van Veldhuizen, Debussy, Skrjabin and Ives.

‘With his astonishing technique, superb timing and passion for storytelling, he holds the audience’s attention. He is not afraid to take risks!’ is how the Dutch Classical Talent jury described American-Dutch pianist Shane van Neerden. Despite his young age, the American-Dutch pianist has quite a career behind him already. For instance, last season he participated in the acclaimed project Toonzetters.

Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch Classical Talent is a promotional programme for talented young Dutch musicians. Laureates include Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, Nora Fischer, the Van Baerle Trio and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, to name but a few noteworthy names. Talent in itself is not enough to make it to the finals of Dutch Classical Talent. Participants are expected to present distinctive and inspiring programmes, vision, and some guts. The Final of Dutch Classical Talent is Sunday 12 May 2024 in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
