Alexandre Tharaud piano
DJ/producer Para One is a key figure in the French dance scene that spawned giants such as Daft Punk and Boys Noize. Pianist Alexandre Tharaud is a passionate champion of early modern French classical music by, among others, Maurice Ravel and Erik Satie. Together they shed new light on the compositions of Ravel, in a bewitching uninterrupted live performance.
Like Tharaud, Para One is a hard to classify. His roots are in classical hip-hop and electronic music. He produced for the popular French rap group TTC and legendary labels like Big Dada and Ed Banger. He also produced film music, including for successful director Céline Sciamma. His most recent album Machines of Loving Grace (2021) features influences from anime soundtracks, Bulgarian folk music, Indonesian gamelan, Steve Reich and Detroit techno.
