Stile Antico

A wonderful alternative to the St Matthew Passion

Always wanted to know what Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday exactly are about? The ever-brilliant Stile Antico takes you on a musical history lesson in the week leading up to Easter. From Christ’s entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the resurrection on Easter Sunday, the most beautiful, moving and jubilant music of the Renaissance will be performed. A wonderful alternative to the St Matthew Passion.

England and choirs, they belong together like yin and yang. Stile Antico also originates from the rich choral tradition of Oxford and Cambridge. Since 2001, this group of vocalists excels in choral works from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods. The singers achieve ultimate finesse by consistently working without a conductor and by approaching masterpieces by composers such as Orlando di Lasso, William Byrd and Palestrina as layered chamber music.
