As always, the Early Music series is brimming with unexpected delights. A musical voyage to China with 13th-century explorer Marco Polo. Baroque lamentations by Bach&Co. A Montenegrin guitarist offers a fresh perspective on Handel, Vivaldi and Rameau. And of course, the great masterpieces are also on the programme. Such as Scarlatti’s magnificent Stabat Mater and Bach’s unbeatable, energetic Brandenburg Concertos. So much to experience!
Lecture series Early Music by Jan Van den Bossche
Before each of the four concerts, a lecture by Jan Van den Bossche provides background and context. As the former director of the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Netherlands Bach Society, he is the perfect lecturer to guide you through the multi-coloured early music. The themes of the lectures in the Grote Zaal perfectly complement that evening’s concerts.
