The magic of the blue hour

Only early risers know it, but the hour before sunrise is one of the most magical moments of the day. The moon has just disappeared, the sun is not up yet. All you hear is an orchestra of crickets. During the special, theatrical family concert Dew, musicians from the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and youth music ensemble Oorkaan play music from all over the world inspired by this magical hour.

Four musicians play Andalusian and Arabic music on unique, centuries-old instruments like the oud, the ney and the rabab, transporting you to a dream world. Theatrical elements, humour and playfulness create a visually engaging musical experience that is enjoyable for everyone from 4 to 104 years old.

You hear the water dripping gently from the plants.
A cricket chirps in the distance.
The hour is blue.
The time between day and night when everyone is still asleep but also almost awake.
The moon has just disappeared, the sun is not up yet.

What happens in the hour of blue?
Who is secretly awake?
Who is waiting for the arrival of the sun?
Who prefers to stay hidden in the darkness?
