Roadtrip with Jean-Guihen Queyras

On the 20th of October, 2022, at the Opening Concert of the ninth Cello Biënnale Amsterdam, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras received the Anner Bijlsma Award. He used the prize money to start a project in which he takes four young cellists under his wing to work on improvisation techniques, composition, arrangement in different styles, and open-mindedness.

In his endeavour, Jean-Guihen Queyras is supported by his own musical inspirations: lyra player Sokratis Sinopoulos , jazz saxophonist Raphaël Imbert and dancers Marie Goudot and Michaël Pomero. In the end, the sessions culminate in concerts at festivals in France and, of course, at the Cello Biënnale.
