Hannes Minnaar has loved classical music for as long as he can remember. The reason he chose the piano was simple: there was a piano teacher in the neighbourhood. In 2016, Hannes won the prestigious Nederlandse Muziekprijs (Dutch Music Award) and ever since, lovers of the piano have been blown away by him. During this concert, you will discover how he eventually grew into one of the greatest pianists of the Netherlands.

Hannes has been a regular presence in the Muziekgebouw for some time now. He has played on stage in various ensembles and performed solo several times in our Piano series, among the best pianists in the world. Since 2018, he can officially call himself a ‘master pianist’, after making his debut in the Master Pianist series. It may come as a surprise that as a child, he aspired to play the trumpet for a while. In the end, he thought it was too difficult!
